Death To Invaders? The beginning of skatebosrding was a really cool time with pioneers pushing new styles of skating. There was one skater in particular with a reputation for chaos that was part of the Z-Boys or Zephyr Skate Club. Jay Adams was mos famous for creating this new aggressive street style of skating (?). As one of the most beloved sktaters of all time passed away many prasies were sung to him. However, a big piece of informtion about the skater’s past involving a hate-crime murder were conveniently omitted from the conversation around his death. People are complex and have many redeemable qualities, but it is interesting how in this skate culture I am a part of, it is very easy to sweep muck under the rug for the sake of someones great skills. Do we really want to promote the culture of Death To Invaders?
